Copy this sales script, it will blow up your business
Most coaches avoid sales because they think it means pushing, convincing, or turning into the greasy used-car-salesman version of themselves. The real problem is you’ve never had a script that feels like coaching instead of selling.
Here’s the 12-step coaching sales script HIC teaches, the one that gets prospects to sell themselves on working with you, no pressure required.
Sales is a tool, not a dirty word
Sales isn’t good or bad. It’s a tool that good people use for good and bad people use for bad. If you’re a good coach who gets people results, you have a moral obligation to get better at selling so more people say yes. That mindset shift is where the whole script starts.
The 12-step coaching sales script
- 1. Get into the trusted-advisor mindset before the call. Most sales are lost before the call starts. Research them and show up as a leader, like Yoda, not a seller.
- 2. Build rapport fast. Get their name right, match their energy, find one genuine connection, then move on in 90 seconds. They came because something’s broken, not for small talk.
- 3. Set the agenda. Lead the process like a doctor guiding a diagnosis. When you’re in control, they relax and open up.
- 4. Help them be honest about the prison they’re in. Ask what the real problem is, how they got there, what they’ve tried, and how it’s bleeding into the rest of their life. People don’t change until staying the same hurts too much.
- 5. Contrast the prison with the dream. Ask what life looks like once it’s solved. The gap between the two is where the value of your coaching lives.
- 6. Set your conditions. Interview them with a few qualifying questions. You’re not just being chosen, you’re choosing them. Seller becomes selector.
- 7. Recap with empathy. Reflect back their problem, goals, and what they’ve tried. It proves you’re in their corner, not just selling.
- 8. Give a tight solution overview. Share how you help and the outcomes, in under 5 minutes. Don’t bury a bleeding prospect in jargon and detail.
- 9. Ask if they have questions. A simple check that this feels right for them.
- 10. Deliver the price with certainty. First frame the real cost of staying stuck. Once they feel that, a $3K to $10K program lands as obvious, not salesy.
- 11. Fear-bust, don’t objection-handle. Fear is normal before a big commitment. Coach them back to why they came and who they want to become so they can commit even though it’s scary.
- 12. Tuck them in safe and sound. After the yes, help them make the first payment, frame the next few weeks, get them into action, and thank them for their trust.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sell coaching without being pushy?
Lead the call like a trusted advisor, help the prospect get honest about their problem and their dream, and coach them through their fear instead of handling objections. Done right, they sell themselves.
How do you present price on a coaching sales call?
Never blurt out a number. First walk them through the real cost of staying stuck, the lost confidence, opportunities, and impact on their life. Once they feel that, a $3K to $10K investment feels light.
What’s the difference between fear-busting and objection-handling?
Objection-handling wrestles someone into a yes. Fear-busting guides them back to why they came and who they want to become, so they commit courageously on their own.
