Why Everyone Needs a Coach

The other day I was at a networking event when I met this guy and introduced myself as a Certified Success Coach. His response was, ‘that stuff doesn’t actually work, does it?!’ First, I laughed… then I cried a little inside. Some people honestly believe that coaches are not important and can’t actually help them.

I should mention those people have probably never had a coach before, and this person was clearly stuck in a dead-end job and struggling to find freedom by escaping work-life on the weekends. He was obviously speaking from a vantage point of GREAT success…

So, I wanted to debunk some myths about success coaching:

1. It’s all fluffy motivation BULLSHIT:

Coaches don’t fart daisies and rainbows all day and expect that to turn into something gold. It’s closer the opposite. Coaches will push you harder than you could ever push yourself, get you out of your comfort zone, get you to stop making excuses, and help you turn your deepest dreams into a reality. It’s hard work; It’s not easy at all. But going through the process, your confidence starts to sore and you realize what you are actually capable of, so a natural side effect is… rainbow-farts ;).

2. Success cannot be concretely defined:

I hate to say it, but if you believe that, I know why you’re not successful, yet. You haven’t defined yours. Yes, the term ‘success’ means something different to everyone, but that does not mean it cannot be defined. Coaches can help you define your success through processes of introspection and clarification that you would never be able to figure out on your own.

3. Anyone can be a coach:

FALSE: anyone can be a mentor, but not anyone can be a coach. Mentorship requires you having a little more experience or knowledge then the person you are mentoring. There is no real goal, no definition of where you want to go, and no specific set of skills necessary to help accomplish anything. Coaching on the other hand requires the skills, knowledge, and processes to help someone get from point A to point B. It is not about giving ‘I think you should try this’ advice. Coaches have developed systems to get you where you want to go and they will walk you through exactly what you need to do to get there.

4. You can’t afford a coach:

After every client completes my program I ask them what the program was worth to them. The answer I got from my client yesterday was, “ummm, it’s kind of hard to put a price on a life-changing experience.”

I get asked all the time, how I have moved so fast in my career, and in accomplishing my dreams. Here’s the answer: I have spent thousands on coaching this last year alone. If you are thinking, why would he do that, I totally understand. Because thats the mindset you’ve always lived in and thats ok. But, let me ask you a question. If whatever you’ve been doing was enough to get everything you want, wouldn’t everything you want have already shown up?

Its time to learn, and do something that WORKS.

Because of the coaching I have received I have been able to condense YEARS of trial and error into a few short months of massive growth, which has already paid me back 10-fold.  I know it is potentially worth millions as my journey continues.

The truth is, if you want to live an amazing life, you can’t afford NOT to have a coach… or two.

My team and I recently opened up our program Shit You Don’t Learn in College and are currently taking applications for FREE breakthrough sessions here.

If you are looking to take your life from good to GREAT; if you know you were meant for more than just to eating, sleeping, paying bills, occasionally getting laid, and dying; and if you want to learn how to create the life you’ve always dreamed of:
